VivazzA - Nordöstliches Leuchten

Nordöstliches Leuchten

“Nordöstliches Leuchten” is on the program this fall at the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Haus in Düsseldorf. Under this title, the Sinfonietta VivazzA celebrates the 35th anniversary of the German-Polish Neighborhood Treaty by spotlighting Poland’s captivating classical music culture.

In doing so, VivazzA draws on the full musical spectrum of our neighboring country. With Chopin’s Second Piano Concerto, the audience will hear an entire piano concerto performed by a ensemble of just 11 musicians. Sinfonietta VivazzA is known for eliciting the greatest possible sonic richness and transparency from symphonic works performed by a small ensemble. The soloist is the internationally acclaimed Polish concert pianist Katarzyna Wasiak. She is a prize winner at numerous international competitions and a scholarship recipient of the Chopin Society.

This program also features lesser-known Polish composers, including Witold Lutosławski and Jerzy Fitelberg, whose octet the ensemble had specially transcribed from a historical manuscript.

Admission is free; donations are welcome.
