The Sinfonietta VivazzA, named after the pet name of Rossini's restless and enterprising father, is made up of passionate professional chamber musicians (flute, clarinet, bassoon, horn, violins, viola, cello, double bass, harp) and presents high-quality concerts to different audiences.
The aim of Sinfonietta VivazzA is to make classical chamber music accessible to a wider audience under the motto "music you can touch". To this end, it uses unusual programs with variable instrumentation as well as combinations of music and other art forms such as dance, film and theater.
Since its founding, VivazzA has performed numerous times in prestigious venues, including the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, the Chamber Music Hall of the Beethovenhaus Bonn and the Museum of Arts and Crafts Hamburg.
The ensemble has also demonstrated its brilliance in internationally renowned halls such as the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonie, the Resonanzraum Hamburg and the Teatro Nuevo Alacá in Madrid and thrilled audiences with its impressive performances.
The ensemble has distinguished itself not only through its musical excellence, but also through the awarding of several prizes in chamber music, including the Medici International Music Competition, the BTHVN Vienna Competition and the London Classical Music Competition. These successes demonstrate the high artistic level and versatility of the ensemble.
A special highlight in the history of VivazzA was the presentation in the Deutschlandfunk program “When Peace was a Foreign Word - The End of the Second World War in the Focus of Three Generations”, which introduced the ensemble to a wider audience and underlined its social relevance.
VivazzA has also been invited to participate in important ceremonies, including the 60th anniversary of the Gerhart Hauptmann House and the 75th anniversary of the State Advisory Council for Expellees, Refugees and Late Repatriates. On these occasions, the ensemble performed in front of high-ranking guests such as the Minister President of North Rhine-Westphalia, Hendrik Wüst, and the Mayor of Düsseldorf, Dr. Stephan Keller. VivazzA was also present at the reception hosted by the Mayor of Cologne, Henriette Reker, on the occasion of Human Rights Day, which highlights the ensemble's important role in social and cultural discourses.
Sinfonietta VivazzA consists of internationally performing musicians who have been trained at renowned universities around the world and have a wide range of concert experience. In addition to their solo activities, the members of Sinfonietta VivazzA have played in famous orchestras and festivals such as the Munich Radio Orchestra, Musikfabrik, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra (Minnesota, USA), the Classical Philharmonic Bonn, the Ensemble Modern, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Gateways Music Festival (New York, USA), and Villa Musica Rhineland-Palatinate.
In 2017, the core musicians and friends of the Sinfonietta VivazzA founded VivazzA e.V. as a non- profit association that is responsible for organizing the Sinfonietta's concerts and activities and acts as a contractual partner for organizers, participants and funding institutions.
The Sinfonietta VivazzA is supported by an ensemble grant from the Deutsche Orchester Stiftung.
