Aufbruch in die Moderne/Awakening to Modernity
The Program “Aufbruch in die Moderne/Awakening to Modernity” program is under a significant sign: The composers and arrangers of our program, Bohuslav Martinů, Arnold Schönberg and Benno Sachs, who arranged Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune for chamber orchestra, were persecuted and defamed during the National Socialist era. Their works are an expression of a courageous artistic awakening that persisted despite political repression and persecution and continues to shape our cultural identity to this day.
All three composers courageously broke with the musical conventions of their time. Each of them found their own musical path to modernity. They revolutionized music with innovative sounds, new forms and unconventional modes of expression, paving the way for contemporary music and constantly pushing the boundaries of what was possible.
With “Aufbruch in die Moderne” you can experience VivazzA in a large chamber music setting: with 15 solo instruments in Schönberg’s Chamber Symphony No. 1, we explore the power of an entire orchestra while remaining very close to you, our audience. In this way, we want to bring to life the fascinating connection between intense sonority and personal closeness to the listener and take you on an extraordinary musical journey.
