The theme „Rheinblick“ refers not only to composers that were born in the Rhineland, but also to those that studied in Cologne and/or effected the cultural life of the city as well. Compositions from cologne-raised Max Bruch, Leon Justinus Kauffmann, who studied at the music conservatory of cologne and whose works were later vilified as „degenerate“ by the Nazi regime as well as George Onslow, who was described as the „french Beethoven“ are accompanied by the films from the Club Kölner Filmer e.V. These films bridge impressions from the Rheinland of yesterday and today to the musical impressions of these rhenisch- influenced composers.
